The cultural project SOURCE, a true European partnership

The Route des Villes d’Eaux du Massif Central proposed the SOURCE project in partnership with the European Historic Thermal Towns Association (EHTTA) in response to the call for proposals of the European Culture programme 2007-2013, which was created to encourage and support cultural cooperation and intercultural dialogue.

The Route des Villes d’Eaux du Massif Central is coordinating the SOURCE project, which began in May 2013 and will run to April 2015. The 10 co-organisers, situated in six countries, are:

  • The EHTTA - European Historic Thermal Towns Association (Belgium),
  • Bath (United Kingdom),
  • The Centre des Arts, Enghien-les-Bains (France),
  • Acqui Terme (Italy),
  • Fiuggi (Italy),
  • The Médiathèque Valery-Larbaud, Vichy (France),
  • The Royat-Chamalières Tourist Office (France),
  • The Tourist Office of Spa (Belgium),
  • Ourense (Spain),
  • Baden-Baden (Germany).

SOURCE is a multidisciplinary project based on the origins and the future of the “European spa-town culture”, in particular all the forms of creativity which have been central to building a European culture brought about through exchange: the art, literature, music, philosophy, politics, science and urban development of these towns. By working together, these towns and cities aim to spread knowledge and awareness of this common European cultural heritage.
