Puy-de-Dôme (63) / Auvergne

At the gateway to the Volcanoes of Auvergne, Châtel-Guyon is a Belle-Époque spa town filled with all the emblems of thermal heritage: thermal baths, parks, casino, grand hotel and a host of villas of varying architectural styles.

The story goes that Châtel-Guyon was where Guy de Maupassant penned his novel Mont-Oriol, which follows the creation of a thermal spa.
