Puy-de-Dôme (63) / Auvergne

You will surely have heard of Saint-Nectare’s cheese and its 12th century church, a jewel in the crown of Romanesque art. For all that, however, you should not forget the springs which gave rise to the thermal activity which developed in the spa town from 1820.

This is the age from which the low town’s grand hotels and villas date, as well as the thermal baths which have been converted into the tourist office, while the high town looks down on the surrounding area from atop Mont Cornadore.
